Fellows

We welcome fellows who are looking for sub-specialist training, to come and work in the unit. We usually have 2-4 fellows at any one time, mainly from Europe and Australasia but also on occasion post-CCT UK trainees.

As a unit, we offer highly specialist training. All resectional surgery is undertaken by laparoscopic means as a default. We have pushed single port surgery and developed the glove port. In numerical terms, we have one of the largest UK experiences of TEM surgery and have an interest in treatment of early rectal cancer. The Trust is a Bowel Cancer Screening Centre.

We have a major interest as a unit in inflammatory bowel disease. Around 30 pouches are performed each year, with an additional interest in revisional pouch surgery and Kock pouches. We have a substantial practice in complex Crohn’s resections.

The other major interest of the unit is in pelvic floor problems. We have perhaps the largest single centre experience of laparoscopic ventral rectopexy both for rectal prolapse and for other indications including intussusception. We have a large practice investigating and treating incontinence.

If you are interested in undertaking a fellowship in the unit, then please write with a copy of your curriculum vitae to Ian Lindsey.
