Diseases of the anus (back passage) are common and their treatment is known as “proctology”. Perhaps the most common problem that we see is that of haemorrhoids (also known as piles). Other common problems include anal fissure (also known as fissure-in-ano) and anal fistula.
We see many patients with these conditions in our clinics. Many patients will be treated with medicines or creams whilst others might require out-patient treatments such as banding or injection of haemorrhoids. Surgery is often indicated for these conditions with a range of different treatments both traditional and emerging now available.
